Is your Pool Safe? – We are Pool Safe Myanmar!

As general manager of Pool Safe Myanmar, John brings a wealth of knowledge in practical water chemistry. He also has an in-depth understanding of operating in Myanmar, having worked in the tourism and trading sectors from 1996 to 2005.

After returning to Sydney, John assisted his father’s swimming pool business, SWIMART Pool & Spa Services. To help keep pools in top condition through Sydney’s hot summers, he undertook an intensive 12-month training program in water chemistry. In 2008, he purchased the business – part of a leading Australian franchisee system – together with his brother.

John’s philosophy is that a swimming pool should always be ready when you are. Accordingly, Pool Safe Myanmar’s focus is on swimming pool water management – helping Myanmar pool operators and owners manage their pools better so they can be used year-round.

Operations manager Zaw Zaw Myo began his career in the IT industry and then retail procurement.

He then moved to Singapore and took up a position at Kwong Soon Engineering, a pioneering firm known for ship retro-fits, repairs, maintenance and ship-building services. He joined the company’s Singapore shipyard and in his five years with Kwong Soon he was promoted to operations supervisor.

In May 2012 Zaw Zaw Myo decided on a career change and began taking a course at the Institute of Technical Education Singapore in swimming pool maintenance and operations. He returned to Myanmar in November 2013 to join Pool Safe Myanmar.

Phyo Pool Safe Myanmar

Phyo is a co-founder and managing director of SLT. She has an extensive work history in Myanmar across a range of industries, including trading, finance, sales and marketing, aviation, travel and IT.

In 2005, she moved with her husband John to Sydney, Australia, where she assisted her father-in-law’s swimming pool business.

After relocating back to Myanmar in 2012, Phyo noticed that many swimming pools in Yangon were poorly maintained and there were few public facilities. She convinced her husband that the business model from Australia could fill a gap in the market in Myanmar.
